Ksenia Popova, soprano

Soprano Ksenia Popova has been praised as “a young soprano to watch” (The News Tribune) for her portrayal of Josephine in Tacoma Opera’s H.M.S Pinafore. Most recently, Ms. Popova made her role debut as Juliette in Roméo et Juliette with Tacoma Opera, for which she was hailed as “a perfect blend of childish enthusiasm and regal composure, singing with a rich, glittery soprano and real conviction.” Her recent roles include Adele in Vashon Opera's Die Fledermaus, Queen of the Night and First Lady in Portland Opera’s outreach tour of The Magic Flute, and Musetta in La Bohème with Vespertine Opera. Ms.Popova is a frequent soloist for Seattle Opera Guild’s Preview Groups, where she has performed excerpts of Don Giovanni as Zerlina, Fidelio as Marzelline, and Orfée et Eurydice as Eurydice. Ms. Popova completed the 2014 Winter Opera Festival with Sarasota Opera as an Apprentice Artist, where she performed in several operatic scenes, and covered the role of Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

In concert, Ms.Popova has twice appeared as the Soprano Soloist for Carmina Burana with Sammamish Symphony Orchestra. A MONC Regional Third Place winner, Audience Favorite, and District Encouragement Award winner recipient, Ms.Popova has also recently been awarded grants from Opera Plus and Seattle Opera Guild.

Other roles in Ms. Popova’s repertoire include Fiorilla in Il Turco in Italia, Clarine in Platée, Lily in The Secret Garden, and Hélène in Une Éducation Manquée. Ms. Popova has received praise for Opera on Tap Seattle, a non-profit that focuses on bringing opera to the masses via unconventional spaces, which she is a founder and “Managing Diva” of.

Seattle-based soprano Ksenia Popova has performed with Tacoma Opera, Vashon Opera, Skagit Opera, Sarasota Opera, Seattle Opera Guild, Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra, Sammamish Symphony, and many others.

Catch me on Instagram ( @kpsoprano ) for backstage updates.

My scene for Silent Night is staged, so now work begins on Donna Anna. So excited!

2016 brought two new roles for me- Polly in Threepenny Opera with Tacoma Opera and covering Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera San Jose.
Today, I start rehearsals for Kevin Puts' Silent Night, singing the role of Madeline Audebert along with a quick trip back home to Seattle to sing in the MONC NW Regional Competition.
Let's do this, 2017! 🎉
