The American Night (tribute to The Doors)

The American Night is a tribute to The Doors available for bookings in the United States and around the world. For booking, contact booking@theamericannight.com.

The American Night, a Doors tribute band from Seattle Washington, recreates the energy, myth and experience of a live Doors concert. At an American Night show, the audience steps back in time to an evening of music, poetic drama, and the unexpected. The show unfolds before the eyes of the audience who imagine they are witnessing a legendary Doors performance.

From the fuzzed out psychedelic sound coined by Doors guitarist Robby Krieger to the jazz inspired rhythms of John Densmore and the bluesy, canivalesque organ playing of Ray Manzarek, The American Night amazingly recreates a live Doors concert which must be seen to be believed. The evening is made complete as the part of the Lizard King, Jim Morrison, is let loose on the stage, tugging and tormenting the audience into frenzy.

The American Night is available for bookings in the United States and around the world. For booking, contact booking@theamericannight.com.

Got a really cool email tonight from the organist currently touring with Robby Krieger. What a great bit of Doors knowledge to put in your pipe and smoke over the weekend. Enjoy this! "Remember when we were wondering about light my fire being flat on the recording?

So I'm sitting back stage right now with Robby Krieger (guitarist of The Doors) and I asked him the real reason that Light My Fire is nearly a half-step flat and why a lot of people learn the song in Ab instead of A. So he pulled out his phone and called Bruce Botnick (the recording engineer who recorded all of The Doors albums) and is on the phone with him asking him what happened. Hold on...

Okay he's off the phone now. The reason is that the mastering tape machine (Scully) had almost a full reel on one side and almost empty reel on the other side and the weight of the reel caused the tape speed to slow down slightly, just enough to make the song flat. The same thing happened with the song "The End".

Okay, that's straight from the Horse's mouth. No more guessing!!"

The American Night had a blast with Vashon Island last night celebrating our 10 year anniversary as a band! The experience was magical with the bay door open and music pouring out into the Vashon night. Thanks Pete Welsh, John, Tony, Wilson and all the folks who made it out to the Red Bike.

A Photo Tour of Jim Morrison's (Restored) House On Love Street

laweekly.com

Jim Morrison's house on Love Street was recently burned down by a serial arsonist. Some people are trying to rebuild it. The bathroom with the cool tiles survived.

Now, run to the mirror in the bathroom, look
She's coming in here
I can't live through each slow century of her moving

I let my cheek slide down
The cool smooth tile
Feel the good cold stinging blood
The smooth hissing snakes of rain

laweekly.com Built in 1922, Jim Morrison's house sits nestled in the Laurel Canyon hills. It's located on Rothdell Trail, and is more commonly known as his house on Love Street. Across the way from the Canyon Country Store and just moments from the Sunset Strip, it's full of Doors history. After...

Thanks to everyone who made it out, to Arny Bailey for setting up the show, Monika and Kevo for having us, and all of the staff who treated our guests to a first class Italian meal.
